About a week ago I saw Up for the very first time and man did I love this animated Pixar movie! I absolutely loved the story and the adventure… and how fearless little Ellie was.

I still get teared up when I think about the first part of the movie, when you see Carl & Ellie’s love story… So sweet and yet so emotional. They buy the house where they used to play, get married and finally build their lives up.

For people who didn’t see the movie: it tells the story of Carl, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman who’ve always dreamed of traveling to South-America. After the death of his wife Ellie he ties a thousand balloons to his house and takes off for a wonderful adventure. After discovering the 8-year-old Russell while flying, these two find themselves ending up in an incredible emotional and hilarious adventure full of surprises.

Ongeveer een week geleden zag ik Up, de Disney-Pixar animatiefilm en ik was er onmiddellijk weg van. Ik vond het verhaal en het avontuur leuk, en hoe onbevreesd kleine Ellie wel was…

Ik word nog steeds wat snotterig wanneer ik denk aan het begin van de film waar je Carl & Ellie in hun jonge jeugdjaren dit huisje ziet kopen, en hun leven hier in opbouwen.

Dit is het jonge koppeltje Ellie & Carl, aan het werk om van hun schattige huis een thuis te maken…

Now the great news: did you know somewhere in Utah they’ve built this house in real life??? I know, I didn’t believe at first, but it is true! A real replica of this Pixar-movie house! This is it, built in Utah by Bangerter builders:

Nu het grote nieuws: wisten jullie dat ergens in Utah, USA dat dit huis uit de Pixar-film exact werd nagebouwd??? Ik weet het, ik kon het ook eerst niet geloven, maar het is wel zo! Een echt duplicaat van het huisje uit de Up-film. Dit is het dan, gebouwd in Utah door Bangerter Builders:

Everything that could possibly be replicated from the movie is exactly copied! Even inside the house… Their chairs where they sit in, had to be custom made!

Alles dat ze konden namaken uit de film werd ook exact nagemaakt! Zelfs het interieur… De stoelen waarin ze zaten, moesten in het echt op maat worden gemaakt!

Disney allowed Bangerter to create the home, on the condition that it could only be built once. They did a wonderful job on the inside as well, don’t you think?

Disney liet toe om dit huis te laten bouwen, op voorwaarde dat het maar eenmaal werd nagebouwd. Ik vind dat die mannen van Bangerter Builders een fantastische job hebben gedaan, vinden jullie ook niet?

For the rooms that they didn’t show in the movie, the builders had to be creative… And what a cute kitchen did they make!!

Alle kamers die niet werden getoond in de film, daarvoor moest de firma iets verzinnen dat in de stijl van de film paste… En kijk eens wat een schattige keuken uit hun creatieve brein voortkwam!

“The movie kind of captured the idea that a house is a place where you live and you grow up and you live your life,” builder Blair Bangerter says. “We’ve tried to take this movie and bring it to life in a real home.”

It’s a romantic idea that this home will be purchased and lived in by a family that will start to build memories the day they move in just like Carl & Ellie did in the movie “Up”. Wish I know who bought this house… It’s so bright and cheery, with a cool 50′s retro interior!

Wouldn’t you get happy by just looking at your house if this was your house? I would. What do you think of this house? Would you buy it, if it was ever for sale, and live in it?

De film omvatte het idee dat een huis eigenlijk een plekje moet zijn waar je leeft, opgroeit en je leven leidt. Dat idee van de film hebben wij geprobeerd tot leven te brengen in dit huis, zegt Blair Bangerter.

Ik vind het een romantisch idee dat dit huisje ooit gekocht wordt (of misschien al is gekocht) waarin een familie hun eigen herinneringen zal creëren vanaf het moment dat ze erin komen wonen, net zoals Carl en Ellie deden. Spijtig dat ik niet weet wie dit huis heeft gekocht… Het is zo licht, vrolijk en speels, met een cool jaren ’50 retro interieur!

Zou jij niet vrolijk worden als je dit huis had en je elke dag zou thuiskomen in zo’n vrolijk huisje? Ik wel… Wat denken jullie van dit huis? Zouden jullie het kopen, mocht zoiets te koop staan? En zou je erin willen leven?
