Your Spot is Hot {An ode to Marilyn Monroe}

Yesterday it was exactly 50 years ago since Marilyn Monroe died. She was only 36 when she died… Too young! Since she is seen as a true legend and a style icon I wondered how her house must have looked like back in the days.

Thanks to this blog and the wonderful internet, I’ve stumbled upon pictures of the last house she lived in (for only 6 months). She lived here until her death on August 5th, 1962. Her Brentwood house (located in Hollywood, CA) has therefore always had much fascination by fans & admirers. In 1962 Marilyn bought this Brentwood home (Spanish revival home, built in 1929) for only $ 90,000. When it got on the market in 2010, the asking price was $ 3.6 million!

Here are some rare pictures:

Here is a peek at her living room, with dark wood panelling against the wall and carpet on the floor. The new owners left the original tiles underneath the carpet and also the nice tiles around the fireplace.

It pretty much looks similar, but lighter now.

And here you can the entryway to her livingroom, her sink (of the kitchen) and the living room taken from another point.

It all looks much more lighter and brighter. They definitely did a great job in decorating, it sure looks cozy!

Sad but true: this house is where she spent the last six months of her young life. We say goodbye to a true icon!

Anyway, I think the owners did a great job in restoring the house. It looks like they’ve kept a lot of the original features in their design.

Marilyn Monroe a.k.a. Norma Jean Baker (June 1st, 1926 – August 5th, 1962)

I was wondering, if you ever had the chance to buy this kind of property that belonged to a famous celebrity, would you buy it?

Happy Monday people!
