We arrived Sunday evening, February 2nd, back home from a weekend in London that was filled with food, fun and relaxing shopping. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my husband eat that much as in that weekend. *smile*
It started in Brussels-South (Midi) where we got off the train and had a few minutes left to lounge in the business premier lounge of Eurostar. We could take any magazine or newspaper we wanted, free fruit and drinks – anything we wanted, we got it. And we loved it. *smile*
When we finally got on the Eurostar, we were already pampered again by the wonderful staff who brought us breakfast and any drinks we asked for.
And we were so stupid to have already bought croissants back in the train station in Bruges and to have eaten them before we stepped on the Eurostar. Can you imagine how full we were when we finally arrived in London? *wink*
After a short ride with a special booked taxi from the Eurostar (yesssss, even those things will be arranged for you when you travel in business premier class!!) we arrived at our hotel. The hotel no. 10 Manchester Street was as wonderful as it looked on the pictures of their website. They upgraded us to a Junior Suite which was very welcome and fun to discover, because we were celebrating my husband’s 33rd birthday in that weekend. The room we got, was spacious and great to sleep in, the bathroom luxurious (with Rituals toiletries!!) and the little kitchen with complementary tea, Nespresso and water (and a little fridge and microwave) came in very handy.
Since it started raining that Friday afternoon (our umbrella looked like it was going to let us down a few times because of the strong winds) we didn’t feel like walking very far or exploring the city, so we did a bit of shopping. I was excited to check out the Victoria’s Secret store in New Bond Street where I scored a really cute long sleeve t-shirt (which fitted me superb now with my big belly) and a pink boyfriend-fit sweatpants, which I can always wear after I gave birth to our second baby boy as well! I even got a really beautiful new set of lingerie in hot pink.
And my husband got a new shirt and sweater in Abercrombie & Fitch for his birthday… We did a lot of shopping on our very first day in London. After our shopping spree we got a bit thirsty and hungry, so we first stopped in Carnaby Street where we ordered a cocktail and little snacks as a starter, and later that evening we coincidentally discovered a cute little Italian restaurant “La Strada”. We arrived late in the hotel that evening where we found another sweet surprise, left by the hotel staff…
This Wednesday I’ll blog about our second and third day in London, hope you’ll enjoy it! Oh… and in case you were wondering where I was last week: busy preparing birth gifts for when our second baby boy arrives!! I feel the pressure now, because I’m still busy stitching, DIY-ing & preparing all the gifts before I’m due to give birth. Hopefully I’ll get there in time.
And… I also didn’t get the chance to announce the winner of my giveaway of Carrie Can’s Valentine’s cards last week, but here it is…. (drum rolls please! The lucky winner is Els Andries! Congratulations!
Please check your email address so we can contact you to know where to send these sweet Valentine’s cards to! I hope you’ll love them and thanks for participating!!
Hugs, Inge x
